Nxtra Data, the enterprise communication business subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, has entered into an agreement with Hewlett Packard (HP) for launching a public cloud service aimed at small and medium businesses. Under this agreement, Nxtra will deliver its private, public and hybrid cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (Iaas) solution. The entire network platform and the services will be managed through the company?s seven data centres in India.
The new solution will help Nxtra to tap a wider market base. There are about six million small and medium businesses in India of which 30,000-50,000 are medium enterprises. The cloud partnership with HP enables Nxtra to offering specific solutions to this enterprise market.
Nxtra will offer hosted IaaS and enable customers to access services with no initial capital expenditure. The model will allow organisations to select services through a pay-as-you-go model. Along with this, customers will be able to request for resources through an online portal.
Nxtra data has reportedly rolled out its Beta platform to select customers for testing. The platform is built on an open stack, allowing developers to build applications and making it inter-operable with other solutions in the market. Nxtra is also reportedly in talks with other telecom companies and cloud solutions providers to white label the service.
