Japan-based communications and ICT solution provider, NTT Communications (NTT Com) is planning to acquire a unified telecom licence in India. The company is exploring options to buy a unified licence in the country by early 2015 through its Indian subsidiary, NTT Communications India. However, the company will neither bid for spectrum in the upcoming auctions nor provide mobile services in India.

NTT Com owns a 74 per cent stake in the Indian managed service provider, Netmagic Solutions. At present, Netmagic has an internet service provider (ISP) licence to offer IT hosting services, including cloud computing, infrastructure management application hosting and disaster recovery. The unified licence will help NTT Com to provide virtual private network and international private leased circuit services to NTT Com?s international customers.

Meanwhile, NTT DOCOMO, the sister concern of NTT Com is planning to exit its business from India and is planning to conduct the sale of its entire stake in Tata Teleservices Limited.
