Nokia India expects to roll out more 5G equipment in 2026, as telecom operators expand networks and plug coverage gaps amid rising data usage. The company’s senior vice president and country head said only about 60 per cent of the base layer for 4G and 5G covering both coverage and capacity has been deployed, leaving scope for the remaining 40 per cent.
On 5G monetisation, he noted that fixed wireless access (FWA) connections are increasing, calling it a positive development for the industry.
Similarly, beyond wireless (4G and 5G), segments such as wired broadband and fibre whether fibre to towers or fibre to the home are also expanding, which bodes well for the sector.
Additionally, he said that once semiconductor fabs become operational in India, Nokia will use chips manufactured domestically.
