Reliance Jio is showcasing its 6G-led innovations at the ongoing India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025. Jio’s 6G stack includes a 6G Gigantic multiple input multiple output (MIMO) radio, a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS), and a 6G non-terrestrial network (NTN). The Jio Gigantic MIMO (gMIMO) will drive the next generation of radio technology. It will operate in the 6G centimetre-wave (cmWave) band, and with 1,024 antenna elements, it can deliver up to 10 times the capacity and 8–10 times higher throughput, setting new benchmarks for efficiency and performance.

According to a top executive, Jio’s 6G intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) solution comprises a flat programmable panel made of tiny reflective elements that can control how radio waves bounce in the environment. Unlike traditional systems, IRS passively manages how signals propagate, thereby optimising coverage, capacity, and energy efficiency.

Further, the executive added that Jio’s IRS prototype currently enables software-controlled beam steering for adaptive signal routing, high gain, and reduced interference.

Additionally, the telco has also developed and deployed its own 5G stack across its nationwide “True5G” network.

Similarly, Jio’s homegrown 5G stack includes a 5G Core, operations support system (OSS) /business support system (BSS), small cells, and other solutions.
