Top telecom equipment manufacturers Nokia and Motorola have declared their financial results for the period July-September 2006.

Nokia’s net profits for the quarter ended September 2006 decreased from $1.11 billion in the corresponding quarter of the previous year to $1.06 billion. The company’s operating profit margins also declined to 13.1 per cent from 16.9 per cent. Motorola reported a 45 per cent decrease in its third quarter profit because of lowerthan-expected revenues. Its earnings for the period under review were $968 million, down from $1.75 billion a year earlier.
