Mobile handset manufacturer Motorola is planning to set up a handset manufacturing facility in India. The company is also evaluating the possibility of restarting its assembly and packaging plant located in Chennai plant which has been lying idle for more than two years.
Meanwhile, Motorola, which has been selling mobile handsets through e-commerce portal Flipkart in an exclusive tie-up, has no plans to enter the traditional retail market. The company sold close to 3 million handsets through the e-commerce portal during the period February-December 2014.
