Motorola has been awarded a $335 million contract by Zain Saudi Arabia to deploy and manage 2G and 3G mobile networks.

Ericsson and Huawei were amongst the other companies that had bid for the contract. Zain plans to commence operations in Saudi Arabia soon. In January 2008, Zain Saudi Arabia gave NSN a $935 million order for setting up a part of the new mobile network. The two contracts will provide Zain Saudi Arabia with a network capable of managing up to 8 million mobile users.
