The Ministry of Defence has plans to collaborate with SpacePixxel Technologies Private Limited for design and development of a miniaturised satellite capable of carrying multiple payloads up to 150 kg. The collaboration will follow a contract inked with SpacePixxel Technologies.
According to a statement, Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX), the flagship initiative of the Ministry of Defence, has signed the landmark 350th contract. Meanwhile, the 150th iDEX contract was signed in December 2022, and within a span of 18 months, the 350th contract has been signed.
The contract was exchanged between Anurag Bajpai, additional secretary (defence production) and chief executive officer (CEO), Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO), and Awais Ahmed Nadeem Alduri, founder and CEO, SpacePixxel Technologies in the presence of Giridhar Aramane, defence secretary and other senior civil and military officials of the ministry.
Meanwhile, SpacePixxel Technologies has been actively working to build and launch high-resolution hyperspectral imaging satellites to provide detailed earth observation data.
In his address, Giridhar Aramane appreciated the unwavering commitment of new defence innovators for pushing the boundaries of technology and safeguarding the nation. According to Aramane, domestic capabilities provide a foundation for fostering innovation by offering a platform for experimentation and development. He also added that innovation fuels indigenisation by driving the creation of new technologies and solutions that can be produced domestically, assuring all possible support to the innovators at every step.
