The government has launched the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Portal, developed jointly by the National e-Governance Division of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and NASSCOM.
The portal is meant to work as a one stop digital platform for all AI related developments in India. It will share developments in the sector, including research reports, startups, companies, investments, AI-related educational institutions and job openings.
Meanwhile, the government has also launched ‘Responsible AI for Youth’ programme, which is aimed at imparting education and skills in AI to students in government schools. The program has been created and launched by the National e-Governance Division, MeitY in collaboration with Intel India and Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSE&L), Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Responsible AI for Youth programme is open to students from government schools based in District Headquarters, in classes 8-12. State education departments will nominate 10 teachers who will in turn select 25-30 potential students as per the premise of the program.
The identified students will attend online training sessions on AI and submit their ideas through a 60-second video explaining a proposed AI-enabled solution. Top 100 ideas will be shortlisted and these students will be invited to attend residential boot camps or online sessions, after which, they will create real-time projects and submit on the website, the ministry said.
Intel-certified AI coaches will mentor the students in the process.
