Domestic handset vendor Maxx Moblink will start assembling and manufacturing mobile devices at its Haridwar plant by April 2015. For this, the company has invested Rs 60 million for its manufacturing unit at Haridwar for initiating the assembly of devices.
At present, the facility is used for manufacturing mobile accessories and the company sources its devices from China. However, with the ?Make in India? initiative, it is targeting to meet around 40 per cent of the domestic demand for its mobile phones. According to the company, the implementation of BSI certification and a four per cent cost-saving by manufacturing in India are the major reasons for its investment in assembling the phones in India.
Further, in 2015-16, the company is planning to sell around 125,000 devices per month and introduce a new product line with 55 per cent sales targeted at smartphone users.
Meanwhile, Maxx Moblink launched its fourth service centre in Hyderabad. It further plans to launch 15 company-owned service centres across major markets in India by end-2015.
