The GSMA Mobile for Development Foundation has awarded a grant to handygo Technologies to support the design and launch of the mKisan mobile-based value added service.
The mKisan service is expected to benefit approximately one million small holder farmers in India over the next two years. The facility will provide information and advice on agriculture and livestock. handygo plans to promote the mKisan service in six states in regional languages.
Commenting on the development, Praveen Rajpal, chief executive officer, handygo Technologies said, ?This project is a result of our efforts in the field of rural empowerment and has won us recognition. To further ensure that we continue delivering quality content to the farmers, we are working with the best agencies in the field of agriculture and livestock, as well as government institutions which will help and ensure that the content and information that we pass on to farmers is scientific, accurate and based on seasonality.?
