Addressing an event, Devendra Fadnavis, deputy chief minister, Maharashtra, unveiled that the state will set up a dedicated cyber intelligence unit to check growing instances of cybercrime. Detailing further Fadnavis noted that aforesaid unit will be a single dedicated platform which will bring together nationalised and private banks, financial institutions, social media platforms, regulatory bodies, cyber police and technicians, and that a dynamic response system will be built from it. He further added that given the rise in cyber and financial crimes, the organisation will be prepared to tackle it.

Maharashtra, as per Fadnavis, has advanced considerably in completing the processes for crime and criminal tracking network and systems (CCTNS) and is also making progress with automated multi-modal biometric identification system (AMBIS). The minister also noted that the biometrics of more than 600,000 criminals have been generated and efforts are being made to link it to CCTNS. Besides, Fadnavis added that the state is speeding up online training for police and emphasised the use of technology in maritime security.
