Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) plans to complete upgradation of both its CDMA and GSM networks in Mumbai by end-2006. Its CDMA network would be upgraded to 1x standards, resulting in adding 250,000 connections to the existing 150,000 lines supported by the network. On the GSM front, the network would be upgraded to support 3G services, resulting in the addition of 150,000 connections.
