L&T Technology Services has become the first technology company to publicly express its interest in the government’s direct allocation of spectrum for captive 5G networks.
According to the company, it has applied for the 5G spectrum for its Mysore campus. It is building use cases in medical emergency room settings and remote operating procedures.
It will obtain spectrum to set up a 5G non-public network to build use cases on the technology. Besides, it will also deploy 5G solutions globally for its parent company Larsen & Toubro.
The company has welcomed the government’s decision to allow 5G for private enterprises but has sought some changes to the rules, for instance, allowing deployment of the same 5G network in more than one location. Also, the inability of connecting the 5G spectrum that enterprises get to the internet has been requested to be changed for providing application-as-a-service or lab-as-a-service offerings.
