Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) promoter Kumar Mangalam Birla has increased his holding in the telecom company through open market transactions carried out over the past week, acquiring a total of 40.9 million shares between January 30 and February 1, 2026.
Of the total acquisition, about 22.1 million shares were purchased on January 30 at an average price of Rs 10.95 per share, reflecting a 5.5 per cent discount to the previous closing price. A further 18.8 million shares were bought on February 1 at an average price of Rs 11.13 per share, representing a 3.8 per cent discount. Together, these transactions account for approximately 0.03 per cent of the company’s outstanding equity.
As of December 2025, Birla held nearly 19.4 million shares in Vi, translating into a 0.02 per cent stake, while the promoter group as a whole owned 25.5 per cent of the company. Further, the fresh purchases follow a cooling in the stock price from recent peaks, with investors viewing the move as a potential sign of renewed promoter confidence in the telecom operator.
