Kaynes Semicon, an outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) company, is reportedly set to deliver paid prototype chip sample for qualification in August 2025. The prototype will be manufactured for its anchor client, US-based Alpha and Omega Semiconductor (AOS).
The company has established a pilot line with a cleanroom facility spread over 1,000 square metres in Sanand, Gujarat, which is a location that also hosts plants of Micron Technology and CG Power and Industrial Solutions.
Further, the company plans to begin commercial rollout of Made-in-India chips for AOS by first quarter (Q1) 2026, with an initial daily capacity of 1.5 million chips and an investment between $200-220 million. A five-year offtake agreement has been signed with AOS, which will consume more than 60 per cent of the first-phase production.
Additionally, Kaynes is in discussions with several global semiconductor majors, including Qualcomm, Broadcom, ROHM Semiconductor, STMicroelectronics, Infineon Technologies, and Intel, to provide OSAT services within India. Furthermore, the firm received government approval in September 2024 and began plant construction in December the same year.
