Kaushik Sinha, Sr. R&D Director, Head of Mobile Systems, Fujitsu Research India
Currently serving as a senior research and development (R&D) director, and head of Mobile Systems, at Fujitsu Research of India, Kaushik Sinha plays a crucial role in driving innovation in next-generation wireless technologies, particularly in 6G, artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) and high-performance computing.
At Fujitsu Research, Sinha spearheads technological innovation in R&D and product development, especially during this critical transition from 5G to 6G and beyond. His key responsibilities include delivering high-quality radio access network (RAN) software for 5G technologies at a rapid pace while embracing cutting-edge agile methodologies and fostering cross-culture collaboration. A key priority for him is to recruit a dedicated 6G research team, with a clear goal of generating significant intellectual property through the creation of new patents.
Sinha’s journey began with a deep passion for embedded systems, leading him to join a start-up in the late 2000s. His early career involved working with globally acknowledged telecom organisations like the International Telecommunication Union and Internet Engineering Task Force, gaining expertise in software design and hardware systems. He later joined Sasken Communication Technologies, where he contributed to air interface protocol development. At Nokia, where he spent nearly a decade, he played a pivotal role in wireless technology innovation, built expertise in product architecture, and established teams from scratch to deliver 5G RAN products and features.
His management approach is a cross-cultural fusion of Finnish innovation, British balanced perspective and Indian agility. “My style emphasizes proactive support and solution-oriented strategies, and fostering a culture of learning and innovation,” he notes.
He says, “I foresee significant advancements in networking technologies, accelerated by AI/ML and enhanced by high-performance computing, including GPUs. Security will become more critical than ever across all domains, whether it involves satellite, undersea, wireless, home, tunnels, mines or remote areas – connectivity will remain vital for humanity”. He is confident that Fujitsu Research is uniquely positioned to lead in this space.
Sinha holds a degree in Computer Science and has pursued various certifications in project management and emerging technologies. Outside of work, he is an endurance sports enthusiast.
Rooted in a middle-class family background, Sinha attributes his success to strong educational values. His spouse, a fintech leader, shares his passion for driving innovation.
