Abhishek Shukla, Director, Enterprise Service Providers Sales, Asia Pacific, Red Hat

Abhishek Shukla currently leads sales and business development initiatives for enterprise service providers across the Asia Pacific. In this role, he is responsible for driving growth strategies, fostering key partnerships and ensuring that Red Hat’s innovative solutions empower businesses in these regions to embrace digital transformation. With a strong focus on open-source technologies, he collaborates with telecom operators, cloud providers and enterprise customers to develop and implement cutting-edge solutions that enhance scalability, agility and operational efficiency.

Having spent over eight years at Red Hat, Shukla most recently served as head of the telecom, media, and entertainment (TME) business for India and South Asia. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in shaping Red Hat’s strategy in the telecommunications sector by spearheading strategic planning, leading high-impact growth initiatives and enabling digital transformation partnerships within Red Hat’s Telco vertical. His efforts contributed significantly to the
widespread adoption of open-source technologies.

Under his leadership, his team successfully supported multiple operators in India in their journey towards open-source adoption, helping them modernise their networks, enhance flexibility and foster innovation. While the transition posed challenges, it has also been immensely rewarding, with India now recognised globally for its pioneering advancements in open-source telecom networks, both in terms of use cases and scale.

With around 20 years of experience in the IT, cloud and telecom industries, Shukla is deeply committed to helping businesses, customers and partners harness the full potential of open-source innovation. Prior to joining Red Hat, he led sales of the enterprise, telecom and cloud providers vertical at NTT Communications. He has also held leadership positions at renowned organisations such as Reliance, Dell and Siemens Communications.

Shukla advocates for open leadership, blending democratic and coaching approaches. While the former fosters collaboration and shared responsibility, the latter emphasises skill development and unlocking employees’ potential through guidance and support.

Shukla holds a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from Mumbai University, and an MBA from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two sons. He is also fond of reconnecting with friends and family, and exploring new cultures and experiences.
