According to S. Somanath, chairman, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), ISRO is aiming to attract more foreign investments into the country’s space industry. To this effect, a policy governing foreign direct investment (FDI) is likely to be announced soon.

The new FDI guidelines for the space industry will be announced by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), which is collaborating with the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe), the Ministry of communications, and the Department of Space (DoS).

India is aiming to assist private companies and non-governmental entities (NGEs) in entering the space sector as well as operating ground segments, developing applications for expanding India’s footprint in space, and capturing significant market share across the world.
