Intel and Google have expanded their partnership to advance the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-focused central processing units (CPUs) and develop custom infrastructure processors, as shifting patterns of AI use drive renewed demand for traditional computing chips.

Under the agreement, announced on April 09, 2026, Alphabet’s Google unit will continue to deploy Intel’s Xeon processors, which support a broad range of workloads such as inference and general-purpose computing. Google will also make use of Intel’s latest Xeon 6 chips.

Intel and Google will additionally expand the co-development of custom infrastructure processing units, which can handle tasks traditionally managed by the CPU, enabling more efficient computing.
