Indus Towers has secured a contract from the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) to set up digital networks across the NDMC area. As per the contract, Indus Towers will equip 3,000 light poles with 2G, 3G or 4G technologies spread across a span of three years. The project will help create common infrastructure which can be shared by multiple telecom operators to provide their mobile and broadband services to citizens of Delhi.

The poles will additionally be upgraded with LED lights, CCTV cameras for video surveillance, Wi-Fi access points and optical fibre networks to backhaul the telecom traffic. The company will also set up a dedicated project management team in consultation with NDMC and the telecom operators to install robust outdoor equipment in weather-proof and tamperproof casing, to ensure low maintenance and security.

Meanwhile, the company is planning to invest Rs 1.50 billion in West Bengal over the next one year. The investment will mostly be towards addition of 300 new towers with each tower being erected at a cost of Rs 1.5 million – Rs 2.5 million.
