Indus Towers has stated that it has successfully converted 50,000 of its cell sites into outdoor sites across 15 circles. This has allowed the infrastructure provider to switch off ACs at these locations, and in turn, reduce its energy consumption.
According to the company, it has reduced diesel consumption by 70 million litres, which is equivalent to 210 million Kg worth of carbon emission reduction. As a result of such initiatives, Indus Towers has converted around 35 per cent of its over 115,000 tower sites into green sites.
Earlier this month, the company had announced that it will invest Rs 5 billion for green initiatives in 2015-16. These initiatives include upgrading technology and improving efficiencies of the equipment.
