
Indonesia’s telecom carrier PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) is planning to raise a loan of IDR9 trillion from local banking institutions to help fund its expansion plans in 2009. According to sources, Telkom may approach banks like PT Bank Mandiri, PT Bank Negara Indonesia and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia to cover as much as 40 per cent of its IDR22.5 trillion capex plan. The group’s mobile arm Telkomsel is investing around IDR13.5 trillion to uplift its business after a difficult trading period that saw it post its lowest quarterly profit in two years.
