According to a survey by a global non-profit, India lags behind its neighbouring countries like Bhutan, Bangladesh, and even Nepal in terms of internet resilience. As per the Internet Society survey, a resilient internet connection is one that keeps up an acceptable level of service even in the face of errors and challenges of normal operation.

India scored 43 per cent overall, placing it sixth in South Asia behind Bhutan (58 per cent), Bangladesh (51 per cent), the Maldives (50 per cent), Sri Lanka (47 per cent) and Nepal (43per cent), according to the report.

Further, India’s score on security was 66 per cent, which is attributable to having the greatest IPv6 (the newest internet protocol to accommodate growing networks) usage in the world, however it drops to 31 per cent on infrastructure and 35 per cent on market readiness. As per the report, market preparedness is determined by examining India’s internet market’s ability to self-regulate and deliver affordability.
