n a bid to tap the rural markets, BSNL has decided to provide rentfree basic telephones to its rural customers. The scheme, which will commence from August 1, 2008, will be applicable only to those customers whose telephone exchanges have a minimum capacity of 1,000 lines. To avail of national long distance facility, the subscribers will have to deposit Rs 500 as refundable security money.
