According to Gartner, the worldwide combined shipments of PCs, tablets and mobile phones are expected to reach 2.32 billion units in 2013, a 4.5 percent increase from 2012. The increasing popularity for low- priced devices across all categories will drive the demand.

Over the next few months the PC sales are expected to decline, however, tablets and mobile phone sales will continue to witness growth. For the period under review, mobile phone shipments are expected to increase by 3.7 per cent to 1.8 billion units. The shipments of tablets are expected to reach 184 million units in 2013.

The market is witnessing a shift in consumer preference, with a large number of users now opting for tablets which support smaller screens.

Gartner, further, states that in 2013 Android will continue to be the leading device operating system and will account for 38 per cent of shipments in 2013.
