According to brokerage firm HSBC, Idea Cellular, the country?s third largest mobile operator by subscribers, reported the highest revenue market share (RMS) with a 27 basis points (BPS) gain during the quarter ended December 2013.

Idea Cellular was followed by Bharti Airtel, Telewings Communications and Aircel which gained 21, 18 and 8 BPS during the period under review. Bharti Airtel and Idea cellular gained RMS in 15 and 15 circles, respectively. Other players including Telewings Communications gained RMS in all six circles, while Aircel gained RMS in 12 circles.

Further, HSBC states that leading players gained RMS in the third quarter of the financial year, while other large players posted losses. Reliance Communications witnessed the highest fall in RMS. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, the operator lost 34 BPS, followed by state-owned operators Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited which lost 26 BPS. Tata Teleservices Limited lost 15 BPS.
