Ericsson has been selected by VIVO, Brazil’s largest mobile operator, to expand and enhance its access transmission network.

Ericsson’s MINI-LINK microwave transmission solution will provide extra backhaul capacity and flexibility and will reduce operating costs. Vivo will continue to add new subscribers and extend its CDMA network. With a mobile subscriber base of more than 27 million, making it the largest mobile operator in the southern hemisphere, Vivo continues to add about 5 million new subscribers each year and is upgrading its CDMA network to offer new services. This means Vivo needs additional backhaul capacity for maintaining high service quality for existing and new subscribers. Ericsson is expected to do just that with its MINILINK microwave transmission solution.
