
Idea Cellular has reduced its 3G tariffs by 70 per cent. Idea Cellular?s prepaid and postpaid customers will now pay Re 0.03 per 10 KB of data compared to Rs 1 per 10 KB that was being paid earlier.
To cater to different consumer segments, Idea Cellular has introduced its new pricing in sachet packs, regular packs and unlimited packs. Its new sachet pack of Rs 10 will offer 30 minutes of high speed internet surfing. Idea Cellular has also unveiled ?HERO-25? a new sachet pack which will give 100 MB data with 3 days validity at Rs 25. For regular home and SoHo internet users, Idea Cellular is offering 1GB of data download at Rs 250.
Vodafone India has also introduced fresh 3G plans. It has cut down the duty of 2 of its plans and going to offer additional data in one of its subsisting 3G data plans.
Earlier Airtel too had affected a similar cut in its 3G tariffs. According to the operators, high 3G tariffs have slowed down the uptake of 3G in the country. Telecom players are looking at driving up data usage by offering cheaper tariffs to consumers. Also, by lowering 3G tariff the telecom players are making attempts to bring internet usage within the reach of rural, mid town customers at home.
