Idea Cellular and Blackberry have collaborated to offer the latter?s Enterprise Server solution under the new model of Enhanced SIM-Based Licensing. This service is targeted towards small and medium enterprises and will address security requirements and device control concerns.
The Blackberry Enterprise Server solution manages all smartphones across iOS-based Apple devices, Android phones and Microsoft phones. The server installation for companies comes free, but to install controlling software on each device, the enterprise has to pay for software licence. Under the Idea-Blackberry agreement, instead of obtaining software licence, customers will pay the monthly charge.
Idea Cellular will initially provide this solution to its 15,000 corporate customers, for a monthly fee plan ranging between Rs 199 and Rs 300. Anyone with a SIM card or mobile connection of Idea Cellular can subscribe and download the Blackberry manager. The manager will create two partitions on the device to secure office data and applications from personal ones.
