Taiwan-based smartphone manufacturer, HTC is planning to strengthen its distribution network in India by increasing the number of retail outlets from current 4,000 to 7,000 in the next six to nine months.

In addition, the company also plans to increase the number of service centres from 250 to 400 in 2013, expanding its presence to 150 cities across the country.  Further, in its efforts to increase its points of presence across the country, HTC India has also got on board three new distribution partners.

With an aim to increase its share in a fast-growing smartphone market, HTC is aggressively expanding its reach across the country. The smartphone manufacturer is witnessing intense competition from foreign players such as Nokia (to be acquired by Microsoft), Apple, Samsung and domestic phone makers such as Micromax, Lava and Karbonn Mobiles etc.

Currently, HTC has 6 per cent share in the Indian smartphone market. Going forward, the company is planning to increase its market share to 15 per cent by end-2013.
