According to a report published by the GSA, about 73 mobile networks are providing high definition voice services in 54 countries.
High definition voice services on the mobile uses adaptive multi rate wideband (W-AMR) technology, enabling voice calls in supporting mobile networks. In the first quarter of 2013, sixteen manufacturers planned to introduce 160 mobile handsets supporting high definition voice. GSA adds that the majority of the service providers offer high definition voice service using wideband code division multiple access-high speed packet access networks. A few of operators are delivering high definition voice services on GSM networks.
GSA adds that select service providers have introduced high definition voice services using W-AMR technology on long term technology (LTE) networks which deploy voice over LTE.
