
According to the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), the GSM subscriber base in rural areas witnessed an increase of 0.37 million users in July 2014. The overall rural customer base grew from 302.73 million as of end-June 2014 to 303.10 million as of end-July 2014.
With regards to service providers, Uninor recorded the highest growth in customer base during July 2014, with addition of 0.3 million subscribers taking the operator?s overall rural users base to 12.6 million. Vodafone India witnessed a churn of 0.29 million users and its user base in rural areas as of end-July 2014 stood at 90.6 million.
The total rural subscriber base of Bharti Airtel stood at 96.7 million as of end-July 2014, following an addition of 90,000 new users during July 2014. Idea Cellular witnessed an addition of 20,000 users, which increased its total rural subscriber base to 76.8 million. Aircel?s rural subscriber base stood at 2.62 million, following an addition of 0.25 million new users. In terms of rural-urban mix, Vodafone and Idea had the highest number of rural customers as of end-July 2014.
The all India GSM cellular subscriber base stood at 744.42 million as of July 2014.
