According to the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), GSM operators added 8.17 million subscribers in December 2014. As a result, the overall user base has increased from 670.3 million subscribers in November 2014 to 670.3 million subscribers in December 2014.
Idea Cellular added the maximum number of users, as its subscriber base grew by 2.58 million users to 150.5 million users at the end of December 2014. Bharti Airtel added 1.76 million subscribers during December to take its user base to 217.2 million whereas Vodafone added 1.49 million users and its overall base stood at 178.6 million at the end of December 2014.
Meanwhile, Uninor added 1.2 million new subscribers to its network to take its base to 43.6 million during the reported period whereas Aircel added 900,000 subscribers and its subscriber base stood at 78.6 million in December 2014. Videocon Telecom and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) added 208,000 and 22,469 users to their networks respectively. Further, their subscriber base stood at 6.45 million and 3.36 million respectively at the end of December 2014.
