The government has received cumulative bids of Rs 1,070.0 billion at the end of the twelfth day and 74 rounds of the ongoing spectrum auctions. The auction will resume on March 18, 2015.
Up till now, about 88 per cent of the spectrum on sale had been provisionally allocated. The Department of Telecommunications has stated that a majority of service areas are being allocated at a premium over the reserve price. Moreover, competitive bidding is expected to continue.
The maximum bids were received for Punjab circle in the 900 MHz band, while Tamil Nadu circle saw maximum demand in the 1800 MHz band. In the 800 MHz spectrum band, the focus has shifted to Assam, Delhi and Maharashtra circles, which witnessed high bidding activity. Meanwhile, the low demand was witnessed for spectrum in all circles in the 2100 MHz band.
