The government of Madhya Pradesh has introduced a policy for the rapid expansion of 5G network in the state. The government has laid emphasis on expediting the process of granting government approvals for the extension of such services by telecom service providers (TSPs) and internet service providers (ISPs)

According to Om Prakash Sakhlecha, State Minister for Science and Technology, a provision has been made in the 5G policy that if TSPs, ISPs and firms developing infrastructure do not receive government clearance within the specified time frame, it will be deemed approved. According to him, 5G network will be available in the entire state within 1.5-2 years.

As per the policy, the licencing authority should dispose of the application for a licence on government land/property within 60 days of receiving it, and this time limit includes the time required to obtain no objection certificates (NOCs) from various authorities and officers. The licencing authority should dispose of an application for a licence on private land or building within three days of receipt. The licencing authority must dispose of an application for a licence for small cells on street furniture within 30 days of receiving it.

Further, if the application is not disposed of within the time limit specified in the above clauses, a deemed licence will be considered in the context of the application in question and issued on the notified portal. However, the applicant must submit the required fees before the issuance of the deemed licence.
