The government has appointed Atul Kumar Chaudhary as a secretary of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) following the superannuation of V Raghunandan in May 2024.
According to a notification, Chaudhary, a 1989-batch Indian Telecommunication Services (ITS) officer, working as a deputy director general (DDG) at the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), has been deputed for a two-year term. Previously, he was posted as a DDG at the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
He has worked in various capacities in the personnel, human resource, administration, licensing, vigilance divisions of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and DoT.
As a TRAI official, he will work closely with industry stakeholders primarily with service providers in some of the ongoing initiatives such as curbing unsolicited communications as well as quality of service (QoS).
