Government likely to drop plant evaluation clause to ease shifting of base for mobile factories to India

The government is likely to drop the clause to evaluate plant machinery for electronics manufacturing at 40 per cent of the original value in the recently notified three schemes that offer incentives worth Rs 480 billion.

As per industry sources, the changes are likely to be notified soon.

The move aims to ease shifting of base for companies like Apple and contract manufacturers to India.
