Chinese smartphone manufacturer Gionee is aiming at revenues of $1 billion from its Indian operations by the end-2015. The company is planning to achieve this target by introducing new smartphones while taking initiatives to increase the uptake of its devices in the country.
For the quarter ended June 2014, the company reported revenues of Rs 5.2 billion for its Indian operations. The company currently holds about three per cent market share in India.
Gionee is expanding its smartphone range in the country, by introducing a new range of devices that will include dual-SIM 4G LTE smartphones, priced between Rs 9,999 to Rs 25,000. The first 4G device is expected to be launched by end-August 2014.
To increase the uptake of its devices in the Indian market, the company is planning to make its smarphones available in nine regional languages of the country by August 15, 2014. Apart from this, it is in the process of collaborating with developers to customise Android-based operating system AMIGO 2.0 for the Indian market.
Gionee would also roll out the successors to its Elife Slim S5.5 smartphone by November 2014, while the successor to Elife E7 will be launched by March 2015. Its entire range will be priced between Rs 6,000 -Rs 30,000.
