
The French voice, data and internet company France Telecom has paid about 145 million euro for a majority stake in Jordan Telecom.
Adding to the 40 per cent share it has owned since January 2000, France Telecom purchased an additional 10 per cent stake. It has been trying to acquire telecom companies in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, but competition from Arab investors has reportedly priced it out of some of the larger agreements.
