Excitel Broadband has collaborated with GX Group to deploy GX Group’s OpenWRT-based Wi-Fi 6 gigabit passive optical network (GPON) optical network terminal (ONT) to offer its subscribers with fast broadband speeds and high-end security.

As per GX Group, Excitel will accelerate the rollout of GX Group’s AX-3000 Wi-Fi 6 GPON ONT devices across its network under the deal. This Wi-Fi 6 ONT is powered by MayaOS, GX Group’s India-patented OpenWRT-based GPON ONT, which combines cutting-edge hardware and software to deliver exceptional speed, security, and reliability.

The device is designed and manufactured in India, and aligns with the government growing telecom security standards, and supports the ‘Make in India’ initiative. With a focus on second and third tier cities as well as rural areas, the partnership aims to make reliable and affordable internet access a reality across India.

The financials of the deal, however, were not disclosed.
