According to a research conducted by GlobalData, commissioned by Nokia Corporation communication service providers (CSPs) across the globe feel that they require stronger 5G network capabilities as cyber breaches across the globe increase.
56 percent of the CSPs surveyed believe that they need to substantially improve their cyber capabilities whereas 68 percent said they need to sharpen their defence against ransomware threats.
Malware, identity thefts, misconfiguration, denial of service (DoS), application layer attacks, social engineering and phishing are areas where the CSPs said they need to improve. Almost 75 percent said their networks have experienced upto six security breaches in the past year.
Further, CSPs also said that 5G standalone deployments could increase security vulnerabilities. This is mainly due to disaggregation of network components.
