Cisco Systems and Facebook are likely to form an alliance to jointly offer Wi-Fi services to users at public places such as hotels or retail stores through their Facebook accounts.
The Wi-Fi service would allow a user to check in at a hotel without having to wait in a queue at a front desk by signing in using the Facebook application on a smartphone or any other mobility device.
Cisco is in the process of testing the ?Connected Mobile Experience Wi-Fi technology? with few of its clients prior to the launch of the service. Meanwhile, Facebook is also engaged in collection of data regarding the shopping and web browsing habits of customers to offer targeted advertisements once the service is launched.
