Vishnu Deo Sai, chief minister, Chhattisgarh, will lay the foundation stone for India’s first Gallium Nitride (GaN)-based semiconductor manufacturing facility in Nava Raipur. The project, backed by an investment of Rs 11.43 billion, is being developed by Chennai-based Polymatech Electronics.

The upcoming facility aims to produce 10 billion GaN chips annually by 2030, positioning the country at the forefront of the global semiconductor ecosystem. These advanced chips will power not only daily-use devices but also drive next-generation technologies such as 5G and 6G networks, high-performance computing, defence systems, advanced data analytics, and power electronics.

Globally, GaN is emerging as a transformative technology in semiconductors, offering superior speed, energy efficiency, and durability. The initiative is a significant milestone in India’s efforts to reduce reliance on imports and enhance its role in the global tech supply chain.
