Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is reportedly set to launch 4G services in the Erode business area and Tirunelveli district. The customers are advised to replace their existing 2G/3G SIM cards with 4G SIM cards at the designated customer service centres, to access the upgraded services. The coverage area also includes Kangeyam and Dharampuram areas in the Tiruppur revenue district. 

The existing 324 4G towers in the Erode Telecom District will be upgraded from 2G/3G to 4G, with additional towers to be installed in areas with limited coverage. Meanwhile, in Tirunelveli Operational Area, all 309 existing towers will be upgraded to 4G by using the 10 MHz spectrum, as put out in an official statement. BSNL will also add 46 new 4G towers in Tirunelveli Operational Area, to enhance mobile coverage. 

All the BSNL customers who currently use 2G or 3G SIM cards can switch to 4G SIM cards free of cost at any BSNL customer service centre, franchisee showroom or retail outlet. Additionally, people who use other service providers can switch to BSNL and avail of their competitive tariff plans by porting into the BSNL network and getting a  new 4G SIM Card.
