Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is preparing to launch a new initiative called ‘Sarvatra,’ designed to provide users with high-speed internet through their home fibre connections, even when they are away from home. This project is anticipated to significantly impact the telecom sector.

The trial phase has been successfully completed, and the service will soon be available in areas including Kerala. BSNL is actively encouraging users to register for this service to take full advantage of this innovative technology.

The ‘Sarvatra’ initiative, proposed by BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Robert J Ravi, aims to enhance high-speed internet access in rural areas across India. A key advantage of this project is its potential to lower users’ mobile data expenses.

‘Sarvatra’ utilises BSNL’s fibre to the home (FTTH) technology, enabling users with an existing FTTH connection to access the internet from various locations where BSNL’s FTTH service is operational. To benefit from this feature, users must enroll in the ‘Sarvatra’ scheme.

Upon registration, the FTTH connections will become ‘Sarvatra Enabled,’ removing the need for a Wi-Fi password or user ID at secondary locations. The Sarvatra portal functions like a virtual tower, ensuring continuous connectivity.
