The subscriber base of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s (BSNL) 4G services, has reportedly increased to about 22 million. Earlier, the union minister of Communications and Minister of Development of North Eastern Region announced that BSNL is commissioning 97,500 4G towers nationwide. In a post on X dated September 27, 2025, he noted inaugurations of indigenous BSNL towers across Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Assam, Gujarat, and Bihar.
Further, BSNL has operationalised India’s first fully domestic 4G (5G-ready) network, deploying nearly 98,000 sites based on homegrown technology.
This rollout places India among a set of countries, such as China, South Korea, Denmark, and Sweden, that manufacture their own telecom equipment.
