Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is gearing up to roll out Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWi-Fi) after completing its pilot. VoWi-Fi works as a complement to VoLTE and uses the IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) core to route voice calls over a Wi-Fi network instead of traditional mobile coverage. This makes it useful in areas with weak indoor signal or patchy network availability.
Moreover, the service has been tested across multiple handsets that support Wi-Fi calling, ensuring broad compatibility ahead of launch.
