BSNL plans to release its tender for 60 million GSM connections in January 2006. The $4.5 billion GSM tender, expected to be the world’s largest telecom expansion bid, has been delayed due to DoT’s dispute with telecom officials besides the intricacies of the technical details embedded in the contract. The 60 million lines include around 15 million 3G-enabled lines, which would cost around Rs 3,800-Rs 4,000 per line.
