BSNL has received approval from the cabinet for a Rs 27 billion package, which will be implemented during the current and next financial year. The package includes reimbursement charges of Rs 14.08 billion for licence fees and spectrum charges. BSNL is expected to spend Rs 21 billion as licence fees and spectrum charges during 2004-05. A similar package has been approved for the next financial year. The government is also clearing a backlog of Rs 5.91 billion on account of a shortfall in the reimbursement of licence fee and spectrum charges paid by the public sector companies between 2001 and 2004.
